What’s mindfulness?

You may already be aware of this growing field, but in a nutshell: Mindfulness is being aware of the present moment, while calmly accepting your feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations

Mindfulness programs, which often encompass yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques, are now in high demand throughout the world. With the high-stress families are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, this course is more powerful than ever.

Here at Pretzel Kids®, we bring mindfulness to you!

Knowing how important this is to the overall well-being of children, we are thrilled to now offer this exclusive course!

What will you learn?

You’ll gain in-depth knowledge into what mindfulness is, and you’ll then learn how to teach these techniques to your child.

I bet you’re now thinking: What if I have zero experience in yoga and meditation? Good question! The answer: No experience needed! YOU can teach these bite-sized mindfulness techniques using our easy-to-follow videos and resources.

What will I learn?

We’ll start by diving into what mindfulness means and how you can help children develop mindful habits that will last a lifetime. Pretzel Kids mindfulness expert Patricia Chilangwa will then guide you through a video tutorial on how to bring mindfulness into your home.

Patricia is uniquely qualified to teach this mindfulness course. A yogini since 2000, she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Boston College and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Mindfulness Studies at Lesley University. She draws on her years of experience as a preschool and elementary school teacher to design and implement developmentally-appropriate curricula for children of all ages and abilities.

Patricia is joined by our founder, Robyn Parets, who will lead you through a series of specific pranayama (breathing) techniques and visualizations (meditations). These tools will give you a treasure chest of mindfulness options for the kids you work with.

But that’s not all: You’ll get our guide with proprietary pranayama techniques - so you can start teaching these right away. You’ll also receive our resources on teaching mindfulness to children and teens, as well as additional resources from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

“I really like how this program was self-directed and simple to navigate. It offered a wide array of tools, strategies, and techniques that I can incorporate with little planning and resources, along with suggestions of opportunities to continue my growth in this area. I know there are aspects of this program I will bring into my classroom for my students, on the field with my athletes, into my home with my own children, and day-to-day just living this crazy life."

“I knew that mindfulness was a very important concept in education. I thought it was mostly used to help students calm down. This course showed me all the benefits of using mindfulness...and it's just not for calming down. Sharing all the benefits helped me see how important mindfulness is for students of all ages. I have really wanted to start using mindfulness activities in my classroom, but I never really knew how to start...I love the activities....This was an excellent course. I am very glad that I took it.

I thought this course was amazing! I took away some really good ideas about how to present mindfulness in a way that is interesting to kids. I especially loved the activity that focuses on the ringing of a bell and the breathing buddy. I had gotten into mindfulness myself and saw the benefits firsthand, but was unsure of how to present it in a way that would catch my kiddos attention. Thank you for offering it.

Meet Your Guide

I'm Robyn & I'm so happy to be here with you! I'm a parent, yogi, mindfulness teacher and the founder of Pretzel Kids.

I started my career as a  journalist with publications like the Los Angeles Times and Investor’s Business Daily (IBD). An unplanned detour while on a travel writing assignment in China led me to a meditation teacher. (Want to know the full story? I got seriously ill in China – the scariest time of my life. I was eventually diagnosed with a neurological disorder that left me bedridden with two young kids for almost two years).

Sorry to digress...That meditation teacher turned out to be a bigwig who wrote a book with the Dalai Lama. Upon the advice of my sorta famous teacher, I began to practice yoga and three years later, I became a yoga teacher and opened a studio!

I sold the studio in 2016 to focus solely on growing Pretzel Kids and helping YOU learn to teach yoga and mindfulness to children. Let's do this!
